About ‘The Human Touch’

When we set up Fig, we also set up a charity called “Fig – The Human Touch” to help local children and communities in Kathmandu, Nepal - the same communities from where we source some of our products. Part of every sale we make goes to The Human Touch charity.

Our charity work falls into two main categories: education and medical support. Because we are on the spot, we are able to take direct action in areas where we can see real need. We can also ensure every penny goes to the people who need it. At the same time, we work to ensure that our intervention provides the boost for local communities to become self sufficient and not dependent on hand outs.

In the last few years, we have helped build two schools, and we have provided computers, bunk beds and lockers for local schoolchildren. We also do substantial work with children with severe burns (an all too common problem in Nepal), providing practical support and post-op counselling services to Nepal’s only Burns Unit, at the ‘Bir Hospital’ in Kathmandu.
